Ontario Pork Privacy Statement

Ontario Pork represents the farmers who market hogs in the province in many areas, including hog marketing, research, government representation, environmental issues, consumer education and food quality assurance.

Ontario Pork does not sell or share your personal information with organizations outside of Ontario Pork's normal business practice except as is permitted by law.

Type of Information Collected

  1. Personal information we collect from you, such as producer registration or event registration forms, transporter license applications etc. whether in writing or electronically. This information may include your name, address, phone number, banking or credit card information.
  2. Information about your hog shipments or transactions, including grading, health and financial details. This category also includes your communications with us concerning your shipments/transactions.
  3. Other general information we may obtain about you through surveys, questionnaires and regular business practice.

Sharing Your Information
In order to provide you with the best possible service, we may share non-public personal information under the limited circumstances described below.

We share all three types of non-public personal information with third parties companies and groups outside of Ontario Pork only as permitted by law. Below are some examples of third parties to whom we may disclose non-public personal information. While these examples do not cover every situation permitted under the law, they are designed to help you understand how your information may be shared. We may share your non-public personal information:

  1. With companies or organizations that work with or for Ontario Pork to service your accounts, or to provide services or process transactions you've requested. For example, we may use companies to help us mail newsletters, news bulletins, statements etc.
  2. With a party representing you, such as your accountant, farm business advisor, feed company rep, veterinarian, lawyer or other third parties at your direction/consent.
  3. When permitted or required by law, such as in response to a subpoena or other legal process.

If you wish to withdraw consent to your personal information being collected, used and disclosed for the purposes listed above, please contact us at the number or address listed below. However, in some circumstances, legal requirements may prevent you from withholding or withdrawing consent. We may also have to limit the services we provide for you if you withhold or withdraw consent if the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information is necessary for the provision of those services.

Confidentiality and Security
Ontario Pork's staff is required to follow procedures with respect to maintaining the confidentiality of your non-public personal information. Additionally, we maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect the information. This includes performing ongoing evaluations of our systems containing customer information and making changes when appropriate.

Reviewing our Privacy Policy
Periodically we will review and revise our privacy policy. We will not, however, revise our privacy policy to permit the sharing of non-public personal information other than as described in this notice unless we first notify you and provide you with an opportunity to prevent the sharing of that information.
